Prosecuting Attorney

The current prosecuting attorney, Terry Swauger, takes complaints from the public on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00am-11:00am at the court. Complaints can be filed at other times at Attorney Swauger’s city law director’s office at City Hall, 34 West State Street, Top Floor. His direct phone number is 330-544-9000; Extension 1106.


Theft Charges Filed By Businesses

Charges must be filed the following work day by 9:00 am. Please have with you any reports or paperwork you would like filed with the case.


The fee is $45.00 for each violation. Checks are not accepted.


If the theft is over $1,000, it is a felony and you must file with the Prosecutor. Should the following morning fall on a day that the Prosecutor is not scheduled to be here, you must still come in and file.

Some businesses complete their own Affidavits to file THEFT charges. These are for misdemeanors only. If your business does not currently complete the affidavit without the assistance of our Prosecutor and would like to begin doing so, talk with the Court's Prosecutor for this request.


All other violations other than THEFT misdemeanors may only be filed with the Prosecutor.


Individuals Filing Charges

Please have with you any reports or paperwork you would like filed with the case. In addition, please complete the prosecutor's complaint form prior to meeting with the Prosecutor.
